Barnacle Geese at Yellow Strand, Raghly
This photograph was taken at Yellow Strand beach at Raghly, Co. Sligo. It was taken late on a March afternoon in 2012 just as the sun began to dip to the west.
North Sligo is home to Ireland’s largest flock of Barnacle geese. Over 3,000 geese leave north-east Greenland each year to spend winter on the Sligo coastline. Scores of the geese can be seen retuning to roost on Inishmurray Island each evening after a day spend grazing on the mainland.
Just off shore from Yellow Strand sits Ardboline Island. Ardboline is an small uninhabited grass covered Island which lies to the north west of Raghly Harbour about 15km from Sligo town. For a small island it has a treacherous past as numerous ships have been scuttled on its shores. In 1867 the paddle-steamer Rose hit a rock at Ardboline and ten of her passengers were lost, while in 1912 the SS Sligo ran aground on the island in a storm but thankfully no lives were lost on this occasion.

My photographs are first hot press dry-mounted and then remounted on Arqadia acid free conservation mount board before being placed behind 2mm float glass. The backing board used has a built in acid free liner and moisture barrier to offer the highest protection for your photograph.

My photographs and canvas prints are produced by DigiCreatiV as Giclée prints on 290gsm Fujifilm Pearl photo paper using 10 colour UltraChrome series inks. The end result are beautiful, fully archival prints with incredibly fine detail.
DigiCreatiV use fade resistant Epson inks which are UV stable ensuring your prints lasts for 60+ years. The images are printed on an Epson Stylus Pro 9900 printer using a colour calibration processes incorporating a spectroproofer and specialist software.

Photos in a tube are delivered through the standard postal system. Framed photographs and canvas prints will be delivered by courier.
