Ciarán believes that much of the West of Ireland’s beauty manifests itself in its stunning sweeping vistas. From the iconic slopes of Benbulben and Knocknarea, posing as majestic sentinels over Sligo town, to the county’s striking coastline and tranquil lakes, it is easy to understand how W.B. Yeats described County Sligo as ‘the land of heart’s desire’. Further to the west the majestic peaks of the Twelve Pins in Connemara and tranquil shores of Lough Corrib are examples of the rugged landscape of Galway and Mayo.Living in and exploring this breathtaking scenery provides the motivation for his keen interest in taking photographs that capture the beauty of our surroundings.

From the iconic slopes of Benbulben and Knocknarea, posing as majestic sentinels over Sligo town, to the county’s striking coastline and tranquil lakes, it is easy to understand how W.B. Yeats described County Sligo as ‘the land of heart’s desire’. Further to the west the majestic peaks of the Twelve Pins in Connemara and tranquil shores of Lough Corrib exemplify the rugged landscape of Galway and Mayo. Dotted throughout these regions are the ruins of castles, tower houses, monasteries and numerous forms of prehistoric monuments, all of which provide us with a real and tangible link to our past.
Living in and exploring this breathtaking scenery provides the motivation for his keen interest in taking photographs that capture the beauty of our surroundings.
′A lovely visual pursuit of the lost and the daringly alive. History and landscape, colour and distance, stone and water, are honed and stitched together through a great generous lens that throws vast light onto a sense of absence and presence. I wish Ciaran well in his future as a photographer. Through his photos he is looking into the core.’
