Much of the West of Ireland's beauty manifests itself in its stunning sweeping vistas; Benbulben and Knocknarea, the signature mountains of Sligo, posing as sentinels over its dramatic coastline and lakes; the majestic Twelve Pins and tranquil Lough Corrib typify the striking landscape of Connemara in Galway and Mayo.

Living in and exploring this breathtaking scenery is largely responsible for my interest in landscape photography.

Ireland's rich historical landscape is also the inspiration for another one of my collections entitled Ireland's Abandoned Ruins.  This series of haunting photographs are presented as an historic footprint of subjects from a bygone age which were once robust but are now being clawed back by the elements.

I hope you enjoy your time on this site.  My photographs can be viewed in the Photo Galleries and you will get a little information on each photo on the Latest Photos page.

The site also includes a secure on-line shopping facility on the Purchase Photos page, where you can buy high quality prints, mounted or framed photographs.  Gift vouchers are ideal for birthday, Christmas or wedding presents and can be purchased on the Gift Vouchers page.

"A lovely visual pursuit of the lost and the daringly alive. History and landscape, colour and distance, stone and water, are honed and stitched together through a great generous lens that throws vast light onto a sense of absence and presence.

I wish Ciaran well in his future as a photographer. He is looking into the core".

Dermot Healy - novelist, playwright & poet, Sligo, Oct 2008.
